Dal Tadka

Ingredients:

1. Tomatoes-2

2. Toor dal- 1 cup

3. Salt-To taste

4. Chilli powder- 1 tbsp

5. Oil- 3 tbsp

6. Onion- 1

7. Mustard seeds- 1 tbsp

8. Cumin seeds- 1 tbsp

9. Split urad dal- 1 tbsp

10. Green Chillies- 3-4 medium size

11. Asafoetida- 1 tsp

12. Red chillies- 2

13. Curry leaves- 7-8

14. Coriander leaves- handful

15. Water-2.5 cups


Preparation Method:

1. In a pressure cooker add 1 tbsp oil, toor dal, tomatoes, salt according to taste, chilli powder, water and give 5-6 whistles.

2. Take another pan for tadka heat the remaining oil add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, urad dal, Asafoetida, green chillies, red chillies, curry leaves and onion. Fry them until onion turns translucent.

3. Add the tadka to the dal and garnish with handful of coriander. Serve hot with steamed rice and ghee.
