Mango Dal

Ingredients:

1. Raw Mango-1

2. Toor dal- 1 cup

3. Mustard seeds- 1 tbsp

4. Cumin seeds- 1 tbsp

5. Oil- 1 spoon

6. Turmeric - pinch

7. Asafoetida- pinch

8. Red Chillies- 2

9. Curry leaves- 1 strand

10. Salt- to taste

11. Chilli powder- 1 tbsp

12. Water- 3 cups

13. Coriander leaves- handful


Preparation Method:

1. Soak toor dal for an hour and pressure cook dal, adding 2 cups of water for 5 whistles.

2. In a pan, heat oil add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, turmeric, asafoetida, red chillies, curry leaves. When curry leaves splatters add mango pieces. Saute for a while. Add remaining water and cook for a minute.

3. Now add cooked dal, salt, chilli powder and mix well. Cook everything on a medium flame for 5-6 minutes.

4. Turn off the flame and add coriander leaves. Serve hot with steamed rice and ghee top of it.
